A shelf is 2cm thick. Therefore the minimum spacing possible between shelves is 3cm.
Tip: You can calculate the space between shelves easily: Multiply the number of shelf holes apart by 5 then minus 2. (e.g. if a shelf is on the third shelf hole above another shelf, then the space between them is: 3 x 5 - 2 = 13cm).
